We’re seeking a skilled and dependable
Senior Accountant to join a well-established organization in the
Summerside, PE area. Reporting closely to the CFO, the successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the company’s accounting and financial operations while taking ownership of a broad range of responsibilities.
This is permanent career opportunity extends beyond a traditional transactional accounting position. The ideal candidate will be interested in becoming a true business partner, with involvement in financial analysis, costing, and the operational side of the business. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys understanding the bigger picture, identifying opportunities for improvement, and contributing to the organization’s continued growth and success.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Preparing and maintaining accurate financial records

Account reconciliations, journal entries and accruals
-
Supporting monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting

Preparing corporate financial statements and management reporting packages
-
Supporting budgeting and forecasting
-
Performing variance and cost analysis
-
Preparing government funding applications and grant claim reports
-
Supporting external audits
-
Assisting with tax filings and government reporting
-
Supporting payroll, AP, AR and fixed asset accounting

Participating in ERP system maintenance and process improvements
-
Working collaboratively with other departments to support operational and financial objectives
Experience & Attributes for Success:
-
Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing-type environment

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or other related discipline
-
A CPA designation or active progress toward CPA is preferred, although the overall depth and experience of the candidate will be considered

Strong general ledger and reconciliation experience
-
Experience with financial reporting

Strong understanding of GAAP
-
Experience with ERP/accounting systems
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Excellent attention to detail
-
The ability to work independently and take ownership
