The Mine Production Supervisor reports to the Mine General Foreman.
This position is located in Lanigan, SK, Canada and is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
Provide a safe workplace by ensuring all site policies and procedures are stringently adhered to, including ground control and lockout
Train assigned employees in safe and efficient methods of operation and in the skills necessary in each level of production by providing them with discussion and hands on training methods
Work with the training department to ensure training is completed
Supervise work completed by production crews and direct the work of shift electricians and shift mechanics should breakdowns of equipment occur
Provide a level of safe production in accordance with company goals
Discuss changes in operating procedures and layout plans, and recommend purchase of equipment needed for continuity of production and the efficient operation of the mine
Assume responsibility for the efficient operation of the control room so that mine operations are kept at peak efficiency
Maintain good ventilation by proper placement of fans, brattice and tubing in the work area
Take corrective actions when ventilation systems are interrupted
Understand and enforce regulations regarding ventilation and diesel operated equipment
Liaise between different groups including mine maintenance and mill operations to investigate any delays or interruptions to ore supply to the mill
Issue clear and concise daily progress reports, ensuring continuity of production
Ensure crews are properly filling out borer log books and equipment log books
What you will bring:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Saskatchewan Supervisory Certificate from the Saskatchewan Department of Labour, or ability to obtain one
Training and several years of experience in potash mining
Excellent knowledge of potash production, rock mechanics and geology
Working knowledge of the basic mine ventilation system
Demonstrated positive safety behavior and safety leadership; demonstrate a high level of commitment to creating a safe work environment
Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to mentor, coach and correct performance where needed
Outstanding interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills are essential
Excellent computer skills are required, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training
Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently
