Downie Timber Ltd., located in Revelstoke BC, is a forest harvesting and lumber manufacturing business and a proud division of the Gorman Group of companies. Downie Timber produces multi species wood products.
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the successful candidate will work as part of a team responsible for safely producing quality wood products and maintaining a clean and safe work environment through the cleanup of mill debris (sawdust, shavings, trim, and wood waste), while performing other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in an industrial process environment.
This is an entry-level position. All successful candidates will begin in the Clean-Up Department, working the mandatory graveyard shift (12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.). Following successful completion of training and based on operational requirements, employees may progress to a Production Labourer position.
Shift Requirements:
- Mandatory starting assignment: Clean-Up Department on the graveyard shift (12:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.).
- Employees must be available and willing to work any and all shifts, including Graveyard, Day, Afternoon (Swing), weekends, overtime, and shift changes as required by operational needs.
- Progression to the Production Labourer role is based on operational requirements and successful job performance.
KEY SKILLS:
- Ability to perform repetitive, physically demanding tasks for extended periods, including piling lumber, standing for long hours, walking, shoveling, climbing stairs, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Experience working in an industrial process environment.
- Experience working with and/or around machinery and equipment.
- Willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to changing operational needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid SIN, Work Permit, or authorization to work in Canada.
- Physical ability to perform labour-intensive work.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in forestry or industrial process environments is considered an asset.
WAGE: $32.13 - $34.87 per hour.
