Finishing Trades Helper / Labourer — Decorative Plaster | Calgary, AB
$22–25/hr | Full-time, year-round | Calgary + travel across Western Canada
We apply decorative plaster — clay, lime, micro cement — to high-end commercial and residential interiors across Canada: the kind of spaces people remember. This role is called a helper. That word undersells it. You're the person who makes the plasterers fast, clean, and great — and it's the front door to an apprenticeship.
THIS JOB IS ALL DETAILS
Not some of it — all of it. The tape either goes on straight or it doesn't. The trowels either get cleaned properly or they don't. The tools are either where they belong or the morning starts badly. Our whole reputation is built on being the most detail-obsessed plaster company you'll find — it's why our work ends up in spaces you'd recognize, and honestly, it's what makes us demanding to work for. We notice everything. If you're the kind of person who notices those things too — and actually cares — keep reading.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own the tool inventory — know where every piece lives, pack it right, load the truck right, nothing forgotten, nothing damaged.
- Mask like a pro — clean, crisp lines. Good masking is half of a good finish.
- Keep tools spotless, even at the end of a long day. Non-negotiable in this trade.
- Read the job and stay one step ahead — hand the plasterers what they need before they ask.
- Keep the site organized, safe, and moving.
No plastering experience required. We teach the craft — you bring the attitude
THE TRAVEL IS REAL
- We work across Alberta and BC, sometimes further. That means days away from home, sharing crew accommodations (usually a nice Airbnb), on a schedule that follows the jobs. Be honest with yourself about whether that fits your life right now.
HOW WE WORK
- Breaks are scheduled and taken together, as a crew. There are no smoke breaks — not official ones, not "bathroom" ones. Fitness is part of our culture: the whole company trains, and the gym is something we share. Read those two sentences again — if they made you wince, this isn't your shop. If they made you nod, keep going.
WHO THRIVES HERE
- Physically fit and proud of it — the days are full, and fitness is part of our culture.
- Quick to learn with a sharp memory — told once, done right.
- Detail-obsessed in a way most people aren't. Tape goes on straight or it doesn't.
- Reliable and punctual. The crew depends on the helper being there and ready.
Any trades, painting, or finishing background is a bonus — not a requirement.
REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Able to lift 50+ lbs comfortably and repeatedly
- Able to travel for work
- This is a safety-sensitive role (power tools, active job sites, driving): zero tolerance for impairment on the job, and pre-employment screening may be required
WHERE THIS LEADS
- We build from within — our top plasterers earn $40+/hr, and they started in this role.
- The path to apprenticeship is real and moves as fast as you do.
- Quarterly performance bonus after 12 months, on top of your wage.
