What are we looking for?
Szott Ventures Ltd. seeks a reliable and dedicated Class 1 driver experienced with commercial trucks and trailers on Alberta and western Canada routes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, familiar with Super-Bs, Lowbeds, cargo securement, and heavy machinery, can maintain logs, follow regulations, and work well both independently and with a team.

Key Responsibilities
· Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks and trailer units across various routes in Alberta and western Canada including but not limited to: Super-Bs, Lowbeds, etc. Minimum 3 years experience
· Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
· Transport goods in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to all regulations and company policies
· Comply with all applicable regulations and legislation regarding the National Safety Code, OHS, Traffic Safety Acts, etc.
· Maintain accurate logbooks and documentation
· Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members
· Assist with and/or individually secure loading and unloading of cargo as required. Familiarity with different style ramps such as Beaver Tail ramps, Air Ramps, Hyd Rgn Ramps, etc.
· Complete preventative maintenance as needed, monitoring fluid levels, tractor-trailer operations, etc. Properly document maintenance and work.
· Load/unload and haul a variety of matt styles in the matting industry such as access mats, fibre/plastic mats, 20' to 40' steel rig mats, and crane mats, etc.
· Load/unload various heavy machinery such as excavator, loader, etc.
Work Schedule
· Flexible, non-set schedule—drivers are dispatched as jobs are received throughout the week
· Work may include evenings, weekends, and early mornings based on dispatch needs
· Opportunities for both local and long-haul assignments
· Willingness to stay on the road for up to 10 days in sleeper or hotels
Qualifications & Requirements
· Valid Class 1 driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
· Proven experience operating heavy trucks and trailers (commercial trucking experience preferred)
· Strong knowledge of highway safety regulations and procedures
- Off-road experience a must, minimum 3 years
· Knowledge of cargo securement, weights & dimensions, hours of service, fatigue management, use of PPE, WHIMIS, and TDG
· Ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
· Excellent communication and time management skills
· Ability to work independently and adapt to varying schedules and routes
· Commitment to safety and professionalism at all times
Non-Required but Considered an Asset:
· First Aid, H2S Alive, CSTS 2020, CSO Certificates
· Any and all other certifications and qualifications you bring
