About the Role
Established in 1967, Kinghaven Farms Limited is a family-run farming operation located in King Township, Ontario. The business encompasses a mixed agricultural property including an apiary and honey production operation, equestrian facilities, farm residences and outbuildings, managed grounds and woodlots, and a barn-mounted solar PV power plant — all operated with a commitment to sustainable, net-zero practices.
The Maintenance Associate is a full-time, hands-on role responsible for carrying out a broad range of upkeep, repair, and grounds maintenance tasks across the Kinghaven property. Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, this individual will work as part of a small, collaborative team and is expected to take direction well, work safely, and develop their skills across a diverse set of tasks — from turf management and property upkeep to snow removal, basic equipment operation, and renewable energy monitoring. This role is well suited to someone early in their maintenance career who is eager to learn and takes genuine pride in maintaining a working farm property.
Key Responsibilities
- Turf & Grounds Maintenance: Operate push mowers, riding mowers, string trimmers, and hill-cutters; perform regular cleaning and basic servicing of turf equipment; maintain grounds across farm, residential, and honey operation sites.
- General Clean-Up: Rake and remove grass clippings and leaves; pick up debris and fallen branches; clear fallen trees using chainsaw or pole-saw; remove brush and storm debris; conduct garbage and recycling runs using tractor and trailer.
- Property Upkeep: Fix potholes and washouts on farm roads; fill ruts in and around paddocks; dig ditches and plant holes; maintain garden beds including edging, tilling, planting, weeding, and harvesting; spread wood chips; replace fence boards, posts, and auger holes; carry out painting in barns, residences, and fence lines.
- Building & Facility Maintenance: Clean shop areas, vehicles, farm equipment, haylofts, and barns; perform basic repairs to barn interiors (stalls, tracks, shed rows); assist with simple plumbing and electrical tasks; change barn lighting; wash and grease garage doors; work at heights including ladders, scaffolding, and roofs as required.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain tractors, lawnmowers, bucket loaders, forks, tillers, grader blades, trailers, harrows, wood-splitters, chainsaws, and augers; operate shop tools including drills, skill saws, Sawzall, grinders, welding equipment, air tools, and acetylene torch; use pressure washers, tampers, and hand tools as required.
- Support to Honey Operations: Provide general maintenance support to Kinghaven's honey division, including upkeep of grounds at apiary sites and repair and servicing of tools, equipment, and related infrastructure used in honey operations, in coordination with the honey division team.
- Routine Checks: Inspect pump houses, water-tank rooms, and vacant residences; monitor and replenish water softener salt; maintain pond filters and add appropriate chemicals; check and change mousetraps and light bulbs in the Main House.
- Renewable Energy Support: Monitor solar PV inverters and data loggers; note and report error codes; assist with inverter resets and safe shut-off procedures; coordinate with third-party electrical contractors as directed.
- Winter Operations: Operate the F250 truck with snow plow and sander attachments; shovel walkways, buildings, and residences; clear snow from rooftops; remove hazard icicles; identify and insulate heat leaks in roofs, walls, and floors; participate in rotating winter scheduling, including weekend shifts, to maintain seven-day snow removal coverage.
- Miscellaneous: Complete any other tasks as directed by the Head of Maintenance in support of the general good operation of the Kinghaven property.
Requirements:
- Applicant should have 1 - 2 years experience in turf management and general property management/maintenance
- G class drivers license a must, experience driving large trucks, tractors, and trailering preferred;
- Ability to work independently and part of a team;
- Lifting requirements up to 60lbs independantly;
- This is a very demanding position suitable for a hard worker;

- Must supply own CSA approved steel-toed work boots. On the job machine and safety training will be provided.
