Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Equine Veterinarian to join our reputable veterinary practice specializing in equine health and wellness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for horse care, excellent clinical skills, and the ability to work effectively with horse owners and team members. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality veterinary services, including preventative care, diagnostics, and treatment of various equine conditions, in a supportive and professional environment. Laboratory experience is highly desirable to enhance diagnostic capabilities and ensure accurate results.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of horses to diagnose health issues and develop treatment plans
- Perform routine preventive care such as vaccinations, dental work, and health assessments
- Diagnose illnesses through clinical evaluation and laboratory testing, utilizing laboratory experience when applicable
- Administer medications, perform minor surgeries, and provide emergency care as needed
- Collaborate with clients to educate them on horse health management and disease prevention strategies
- Maintain detailed medical records for all patients in compliance with veterinary standards
- Stay current with advancements in equine veterinary medicine through continuing education and professional development
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Valid veterinary license to practice in British Colombia
- Proven experience working with equine patients with focus on sport horse medicine; laboratory experience is a plus
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to perform diagnostics, treatments, and minor surgical procedures
- Excellent communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to veterinary ethical standards
Pay: $90,000.00-$145,000.00 per year
