Duties
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
- Monitor patient conditions by observing vital signs, reporting changes promptly, and documenting observations accurately.
- Assist with medical procedures such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and wound care to support treatment plans.
- Support patients with dementia, seniors requiring hospice or palliative care, pediatric patients, or those in assisted living environments with tailored approaches to their unique needs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols and ensuring proper disposal of medical waste.
- Use electronic health record systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient information efficiently and accurately.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate case management efforts and ensure comprehensive patient support.
Skills
- Proven experience working in nursing homes, hospitals, or acute care settings with a strong understanding of medical terminology.
- Skilled in patient care techniques including medication administration, laboratory procedures such as phlebotomy, and pain management strategies.
- Knowledge of home care practices and experience working with children or seniors enhances your versatility.
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and electronic health record systems like Epic or Cerner is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate within healthcare teams.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, especially when providing hospice or dementia care.
- Strong organizational skills for managing multiple responsibilities in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
