Job Summary
Independent Pharmacy seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pharmacy staff and ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications accurately and efficiently
- Prepare prescription orders for review by pharmacists
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
- Enter patient information and prescriptions into the pharmacy system
- Fill Prescriptions, process insurance claims and handle billing inquiries and labeling medications with great accuracy
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy area
- Adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulations
- Preparing Blister packs
- Handle prescription pick up and cashing patients out.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Assistant preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations preferred
- Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and software preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
- Fillware software knowledge preferred.
Skills:
- Medication administration: Proficient in accurately dispensing medications according to prescriptions.
- Patient care: Demonstrates empathy, compassion, and professionalism when interacting with patients.
- Medical terminology: Possesses knowledge of medical terms commonly used in a pharmacy setting.
- Pharmacy technician: Familiarity with pharmacy operations, including inventory management and prescription processing.
- Fillware software knowledge preferred.
