I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Executive Director and Senior Director, Policy and Workforce Development, the Policy and Consortium Coordinator, supports the development of policies and legislation to support the growth of skilled trades awareness and labor market participation through a new work force development consortium arm of the Construction Association of NB.
II. Accountabilities
The Lead will provide ongoing support for the logistical management of CANB’s labour market consortium arm. This includes tracking project status, timelines, deliverables, and project requirements; preparing for meetings, conference calls, and webinars; supporting and coordinating with internal and external partners; preparing, and delivering detail presentations; development of position papers, white papers, grant submissions, funding proposals, briefing notes, and policy statements of topics of importance to CANB, the ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) construction sector and the skilled trades labour market.
III. Essential Functions
This position entails, but is not limited to the following:
§ Conducts background policy research and analysis to support existing projects as well as proposals for new bodies of work; synthesizes research findings to identify and recommend best practices.
§ Extracts, collects, and aggregates data across databases, information sources, survey responses, and other data sources; ensures data quality; cleans and checks data for consistency and accuracy.
§ Develops data visualizations for diverse audiences; develops, formats, and prepares reports, charts, and/or graphs for varying documents and written and oral presentations for both internal and external audiences; collaborates with teams to design and help integrate data.
§ Conducts standardization of processes for funding evaluation, proactively identifies and proposes alternatives to improve the stability, performance of the consortium.
§ Assists in coordinating, administering, analyzing, and reporting on CANB and labour market surveys.
§ Assists with one-pagers and topic briefs to support the consortium team’s work.
§ Assists in efforts to improve internal policy and communications on integrated activities with other members of the staff and outside industry associations.
§ Contributes professional expertise and experience concerning policy, workforce development policy, and a wide variety of policy issues associated with or impacting the ICI sector at all levels of government, across private and public sectors.
IV. Qualifications/Requirements

§ Resourcefulness and ability to work proactively - thinking ahead. Good logic skills to read through minutes and summarize the conclusions and actions taken.
§ Flexibility and ability to manage competing demands; must be able to manage a myriad of on-going tasks in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changes.
§ Must maintain a strict code of ethics in working with highly confidential data.

§ Must promote and foster communications with staff as well as CANB members, elected officials, and external parties. Must have excellent listening skills.
§ Outstanding writing and editing skills; varies writing style and voice as needed.

§ Must have background in monitoring and creating social media.
V. Education and Training/Experience:
§ University degree required (BBA, BA/BS, Political Science), and experience working with quantitative data and analysis. Experience in non-profit and government relations fields preferred.
§ Experience preparing, organizing, and presenting data sets and data analysis.
VI. Working Conditions:
§ Travel - Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some evening, out-of-the-area, and overnight travel may be expected.
§ Supervisory Responsibility - This position reports to the Senior Director of Workforce Development, with project reporting to the Executive Director.
§ Work Environment - This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, electronic communications, etc. The position is to be based in N.B., however work from home and hybrid work environments may be considered.
§ Position Type - Two-year initial contract with an option of extending another two years. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
