Based in Langley, BC with a second office and warehouse in Calgary, AB, we source and distribute meat, deli, seafood, and bakery products to grocery retailers, independent markets, and foodservice customers throughout Western Canada. We are seeking a Director of Sales to lead our sales organization and help shape the next chapter of our growth.
Reporting directly to ownership, this position is responsible for sales strategy, team leadership, customer development, and overall department performance. You will lead a team of 10 direct reports. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys building relationships, developing people, and driving results.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the sales team through accountability, mentoring, and performance management.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on growth, profitability, customer service, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop future sales talent.
- Establish departmental goals, priorities, and performance metrics.
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies that drive sustainable revenue and margin growth.
- Strengthen relationships with key customers, suppliers, brokers, and industry partners.
- Support major account negotiations and strategic customer initiatives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across retail, foodservice, and wholesale channels.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and industry developments.
Strategy & Execution
- Participate in leadership meetings and annual planning initiatives.
- Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reporting.
- Analyze customer profitability, product mix, and sales trends to support decision-making.
- Work closely with purchasing, operations, logistics, and finance to ensure alignment across the organization.
- Contribute to the long-term growth strategy of the business.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of sales experience, including leadership responsibility for a sales team.
- Proven success developing people and achieving measurable sales growth.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and execute against measurable goals.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Experience within food distribution, grocery, foodservice, consumer packaged goods, or a related industry is preferred.
- Willingness to travel periodically throughout Western Canada.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $120,000 - $140,000.
- Long-Term Incentive Plan (up to 30%) based on company, department, and individual performance.
