Maintenance Packaging Supervisor

SUMMARY

This position reports to the Maintenance Manager; and is responsible for directing and coordinating the mechanical maintenance of the Packaging, Palletizing and Specialty Line areas to ensure maximum operating efficiency in a safe, cost effective and timely manner. This position is accountable for maintaining, upgrading, keeping up to date with the latest techniques of electronic and packaging systems, and the continual operations of the packaging equipment. The Packaging Maintenance Supervisor trains and supervises the maintenance work force to ensure the quality and quantity of work performance meets the necessary requirements to meet the operations goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains a positive professional relationship with all contractors and equipment manufacturers.
Ensures that the Plant Policies, Procedures and Union contracts are administered and followed in a fair and consistent manner.
Directs the loss control program in his/her area of accountability, to reduce personal injury accidents, other losses, and to ensure a safe working environment.
Responsible to attend and participate in training activities appropriate to the position and to incorporate acquired skills and knowledge.
Responsible for identifying the training needs of subordinates, ensuring their participation in appropriate training activities, and reinforcing subordinate’s skill development with coaching, feedback and recognition.
Accountable for the packaging portion of the maintenance budget.
Accountable for identifying potential capital projects and repair jobs, and new projects in his/her area.
Ensures the parts inventory for packaging and specialty line equipment is adequate to meet maintenance needs.
Recommends equipment, procedure, and facility modifications to ensure the most efficient use of our resources.
Maintains awareness of new developments, equipment and processes for potential applications to meet corporate and plant objectives.
Work with operations and maintenance personnel to ensure that all plant systems are operating efficiently within their limits.
Directs the packaging maintenance and specialty line function to assure the maximum operating efficiencies are maintained to meet minimal downtime, quality levels, volumes, grade yield, safety performance and cost control.
Provide technical services to ensure conformance with applicable codes and standards of safety, quality, sanitation and environmental protection. Must understand the codes and standards.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree from 4 year college or university
Three plus years related experience and/or training.
Must be available in the event of unplanned downtime that requires special and/or extra means to get the factory up and running.
Any licenses demonstrating knowledge of welding and/or PLC is a plus.
