As an essential team player for program delivery, the Tai Chi Instructor is responsible for creating a positive atmosphere for all residents through the development of customer relationships and by creating an engaging and fulfilling experience for recreation and family participants.
We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Tai Chi Instructor to lead safe, engaging, and inclusive classes for participants of various ages and fitness levels. The instructor will create a welcoming environment that promotes physical health, mental well-being, balance, flexibility, and relaxation through the practice of Tai Chi.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver Tai Chi classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced participants.
Qualifications:
- Certification or formal training in Tai Chi from a recognized organization or qualified instructor.
- Previous experience teaching group fitness, wellness, or Tai Chi classes preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and engage participants of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Reliable, professional, and punctual.
Skills:
- Excellent instructional and demonstration skills.
- Knowledge of Tai Chi principles, forms, and safety practices.
- Patience and adaptability.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to assess participant needs and modify exercises appropriately.
Working Conditions:
- Classes may be held indoors or outdoors. ( Seasonally)
- Flexible schedule.
- Standing, walking, and demonstrating movements for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting and setting up of light equipment if required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate Tai Chi movements with proper technique.
- Ability to stand and move continuously during classes.
- Ability to safely assist participants with movement modifications when appropriate.
- Demonstrate proper Tai Chi forms, breathing techniques, posture, and movement principles.
- Adapt instruction to accommodate participants with varying abilities, fitness levels, and mobility needs.
- Monitor participants to ensure safe technique and reduce the risk of injury.
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
- Educate participants on the health benefits and philosophy of Tai Chi.
- Arrive prepared with lesson plans and necessary equipment.
- Communicate with program coordinators as required.
- Maintain current certifications and stay informed about best practices in Tai Chi instruction.
What You Need
The ideal candidate is a high- energy team player who is a certified Skating Instructor or has equivalent experience. This is complemented by a certification in Standard First Aid/ CPR level C. Knowledge of skating and the ability to instruct and educate in a respectful manner will help ensure your success. A Proven track record working independently and in a team environment is an asset. A Police Records Check is also required.
