Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Automotive Body Technician ready to expand their craft into marine boat building using advanced composite materials. If you have experience in auto body repair, surface prep, painting, or fiberglass work, this is an opportunity to apply those same precision skills in a high-quality manufacturing environment.
In this role, you’ll transition your knowledge of bodywork and finishing into lamination, fiberglass layup, and composite fabrication used in building premium marine vessels. You’ll be supported in learning marine-specific techniques while leveraging the craftsmanship you already bring.
Responsibilities
- Apply your auto body expertise to fiberglass layup, resin application, and composite lamination
- Prepare surfaces through sanding, grinding, filling, and finishing—similar to automotive prep work
- Operate laminating equipment and use hand/power tools to shape, assemble, and refine components
- Perform gelcoat application, spraying, and finishing, similar to automotive paint processes
- Use precision measuring tools to ensure accuracy, fit, and finish
- Support structural repairs and fabrication using techniques aligned with bodywork and welding experience
- Handle materials safely using forklifts, cranes, or other shop equipment
- Maintain tools and equipment, including troubleshooting and minor repairs
- Work within a lean manufacturing environment, focusing on efficiency and quality
- Keep a clean, safe, and organized workspace
- Collaborate with the production team to meet build timelines and quality standards
Qualifications
- Experience as an Automotive Body Technician, Auto Painter, or Collision Repair Technician
- Strong skills in surface prep, sanding, filling, finishing, and spray application
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, equipment, and fabrication processes
- Experience with fibreglass or composites is an asset
- Familiarity with spray systems (including airless or HVLP)
- Ability to read drawings, take measurements, and work with precision
- Experience operating shop equipment (forklifts, hoists, etc.) is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
- A safety-first mindset and ability to work in a team environment
Why this role is different:
This is not just another body shop role. You’ll be:
- Building high-performance marine products instead of repairing vehicles
- Expanding into composite manufacturing and fiberglass craftsmanship
- Working in a structured production environment with long-term growth potential
- Applying your trade in a new way that combines precision, durability, and craftsmanship
