We are seeking a full-time Wood Door Assembler/Shop Labourer to join our Winnipeg Branch. As directed by the Shop Supervisor, this position will be responsible for preparing wood doors and hardware to meet the needs of customer orders. They will also test and calibrate parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications.


Duties include but are not limited...

Read and interpret work orders and blueprints
Mark outlines or dimensions of parts pertaining to the product
Cut material to specific dimensions
Operate machinery in a safe and effective manner as described in the safe work procedures
Trim joints and fit parts and sub-assemblies together to form complete units
Sort parts and scrap material
Palletizing and bundling frames and doors
Receiving and putting away stock products
Transport raw materials and finished wood products manually
Operating equipment such as grinders, wood saws, jigsaws, drills and drill presses, air hammers, air and orbital sanders, punches and presses, as well as various hand tools
Duties may include forklift operation
Clean work areas and equipment as required
Knowledge and care of woodworking tools
Follows direction and instruction from supervisor
Follows all safety policies including wearing appropriate safety attire
Transport raw materials and finished products manually or using hoists and or other devices
Update supervisor regularly on productivity level
May perform other tasks as necessary

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Physically demanding, ability to lift and handle heavy objects
Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and use precision measuring utensils
Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Minimum 2-3 years' experience in woodworking/fabrication
Product knowledge and experience an asset
Continuous improvement experience an asset
5S or Lean Manufacturing experience an asset
PC and Microsoft Excel experience an asset

Willing to work overtime as required
Willing to perform other jobs as required by organizational demands
Must be able to work effectively in a team-based collaborative environment
Ability to work under minimal supervision
