Position Details
Nason Contracting Group Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Insulator General Foreperson to provide high‑level field leadership across insulation crews and support trades on at our project in Abbotsford, BC.
- Schedule: 10 days on, 4 days off, Tuesday Start
- Hours: 10 hours worked per day
- Wage: $57.79 (As per Collective Agreement)
- Travel: Allowance per Pre-Job
- Camp / Accommodation: LOA per Pre-Job
- Benefits & RRSP: As per CLAC Collective Agreement
What You Will Be Working On
The Insulator General Foreperson is responsible for overseeing insulation crews and coordinating activities across disciplines to ensure the safe, efficient, and high‑quality execution of insulation work scopes. This role acts as the key field leader between frontline workers and site management, driving productivity, safety performance, planning, and execution.
- Provide field leadership, supervision, and mentorship to forepersons, journeypersons, and apprentices.
- Coordinate insulation activities with other trades to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and site priorities.
- Plan, prioritize, and execute daily and weekly work activities across multiple work fronts.
- Develop and maintain workforce plans, manpower forecasts, and productivity targets aligned with project milestones.
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, P&IDs, isometrics, and work packages to ensure accurate scope execution.
- Oversee installation of insulation systems including hot and cold insulation, cryogenic systems, acoustic insulation, fireproofing, removable insulation systems, and cladding/weatherproofing.
- Ensure proper material selection, installation methods, sequencing, and finishing requirements are met.
- Coordinate scaffolding, access, lifting, permits, and risk mitigation requirements to support efficient execution.
- Monitor field productivity, progress, and material usage; implement corrective actions to maintain performance targets and reduce rework.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, codes, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate field reporting including daily progress tracking, labour hours, and performance metrics.
- Provide regular updates to project leadership on progress, risks, constraints, and resource requirements.
- Lead field-level issue resolution and escalate risks as required to maintain project delivery.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices, EH&S procedures, and OH&S legislation.
- Lead toolbox talks, FLRAs, hazard assessments, and site safety initiatives.
- Support workforce planning by ensuring proper certification, training, and crew competency.
- Foster a collaborative work environment with other trades, contractors, and client representatives.
- Promote continuous improvement and identify opportunities to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost performance.
What We Are Looking For
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Valid Journeyperson Insulator Certification (Heat & Frost or equivalent experience with proof of hours).
- Minimum 8+ years of industrial insulation experience, including progressive supervisory roles.
- Proven experience leading crews on large scale industrial projects or turnarounds.
- Extensive knowledge of insulation systems and installation methods, including:
Hot and cold insulation systems, Cryogenic insulation systems (LNG, low-temperature service), Acoustic insulation systems, Fireproofing applications, Removable insulation systems (blankets and covers), Heat tracing interface awareness (steam/electrical), Cladding systems and weatherproofing requirements
- Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, drawings, and insulation specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership, planning, and organizational abilities.
- Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform site-based activities as required.
- Organized, self-driven, and able to execute both written and verbal instructions.
