Position Summary
The Recreation Worker is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of recreational programming for residents. Elements of the program will include cultural, spiritual, intellectual, social and physical domains. This position reports to the Manager of Community Inclusion. This is a Temporary (contract length: 52 weeks) Full Time (40hrs/week) in-scope position.
Responsibilities & Duties
Responsible for creating recreational programs that will meet the required criteria
Point of contact for the organization relative to recreational programs
Plan and implement vacations with residents in line with their Person-Centred Goals
Maintain equipment and supplies in good repair, make recommendations for purchases and make purchases as assigned
Liaise with external suppliers and vendors relative to recreational programs
Coordinate travel providers and volunteers relative to recreational programs
Qualifications
Therapeutic Recreation Diploma and/or experience developing and delivering recreational programming focused on Community Inclusion
Experience in working with and providing personal care for individuals with intellectual disabilities
Project management experience and ability to coordinate programs
Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to work alone or with little supervision
