Position Summary
PWL’s Toronto office is an entrepreneurial and close-knit team, and we’re looking for an Associate Wealth Advisor who will fit well with our culture. This position is ideal for a motivated Associate Wealth Advisor with 3 to 5 years of experience in the financial services industry. In this role, you will support and collaborate with senior team members to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Your responsibilities will include preparing for client meetings by conducting pre-meeting analysis, attending meetings to gain firsthand experience, taking detailed post-meeting notes, and executing follow-up action items. You will assist with financial planning analysis, prepare financial planning summaries, and conduct ad hoc analysis to address client inquiries. A foundational understanding of financial management, investment planning, insurance and risk management, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning is essential.
In this position, you will work closely with the Portfolio Managers to help manage new and existing client relationships, with a strong emphasis on client service.
This role is perfect for individuals aiming to contribute to comprehensive financial planning for Canadian families while developing their skills and expertise in the wealth management field.
This is a new permanent, full-time, hybrid position.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for client meeting preparation which involves a thorough review of the CRM, generating key statements and reports, reviewing notes and past communication to create a comprehensive agenda that identifies the client’s objectives
- Accountable for preparing and updating comprehensive financial plans using firm-approved software (Conquest) in collaboration with Wealth Advisors
- Responsible for client-specific analysis such as insurance reviews, creating models in Excel related to financial outcomes, reviewing ACB of transferred-in securities, reviewing outside investment and income sources
- Collaborating and coordinating with outside professional such as accountants and lawyers, including preparation of annual tax packages for individuals and corporate clients
- Responding to client questions, requests and inquiries in a timely manner and assist with senior team members with conducting cash movement requests and client follow up
- Book-wide audits and projects such as tax installment tracking and execution, tracking and executing RRSP, RESP and TFSA contributions, coordination and tracking of active prescribed loans and annual interest payments and perform year-end income estimates to identify gain/loss crystallization opportunities
- Innovating and improving processes by approaching each situation with an open mind that anything that can be improved, should be improved
Qualifications
- College certificate/diploma in finance or bachelor's degree in finance or related field is an asset
- 3 to 5 years of financial services experience in a client-facing support position is preferred
- Proficient knowledge of investing and financial planning
- Completion of QAFP or CFP is preferred (must be at least actively pursing one of these designations)
- Experience with Conquest planning software is preferred
- CIRO-licensed as an Investment Representative or Registered Representative or completion of required exams is an asset
- Must be a collaborative team player who works well with others and is willing to learn from constructive feedback
- Must have exceptional time management, communication and listening skills
- Proficiency with the Microsoft suite
