TITLE: SAFETY COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER
ROLE SUMMARY: As the Safety Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of All Roads Construction's Occupational Health & Safety Program. You will work closely with field operations, supervisors, project teams, and management to promote a proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce workplace risk, and support safe, efficient project execution. This position combines field presence with administrative oversight to ensure safety systems remain effective, compliant, and continuously improving.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regulatory Compliance: Support compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations, COR requirements, and company safety policies by conducting field observations, assisting with inspections, supporting audits, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented. Workplace Inspections & Hazard Management: Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, field-level risk assessments, and safety observations. Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours, recommend corrective actions, and verify controls remain effective.
Project Safety Support: Assist project teams with pre-job planning, project hazard assessments, safe work procedures, and ongoing site safety reviews to ensure hazards are identified and managed throughout each project. Orientation & Training: Coordinate and conduct employee orientations, site-specific onboarding, toolbox talks, and safety training. Maintain training records and monitor certification requirements to ensure compliance.
Incident Investigation: Assist with reporting and investigating workplace incidents, near misses, injuries, and property damage. Gather evidence, support root cause analysis, and track corrective and preventative actions through completion. Field Safety Leadership: Maintain a strong field presence by visiting projects, coaching workers and supervisors, reinforcing safe work practices, and promoting continuous improvement throughout all operations.
Joint Health & Safety Committee Support: Support JOHSC meetings, inspections, documentation, meeting minutes, and action item tracking while encouraging worker participation and communication. Emergency Preparedness: Assist in maintaining Emergency Response Plans, coordinating emergency drills, inspecting emergency equipment, and ensuring site readiness for emergency situations.
Contractor & Visitor Safety: Coordinate orientations and verify safety documentation for subcontractors, visitors, and suppliers while ensuring compliance with company safety expectations. Documentation & Compliance Administration: Maintain accurate safety documentation including inspections, hazard assessments, training records, incident reports, corrective actions, audits, and regulatory records.
COR Program Support: Assist with internal COR audits, action plan implementation, documentation management, and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen the company's Safety Management System. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve safety processes, documentation, worker engagement, and overall safety performance while supporting the ongoing development of the company's health and safety program.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety Regulations. Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
Knowledge of COR auditing principles and safety management systems. Experience delivering orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training.
Strong documentation and report-writing skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience using digital safety management systems (SiteDocs, Nektar) is considered an asset.

Professional, responsive, and adaptable in a fast-paced construction environment. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: 3–5+ years in a construction safety role or related Occupational Health & Safety position.
Education:
High school diploma required; post-secondary education in business or a related field is preferred
Required Certifications:
Valid BC Driver's Licence
Occupational First Aid (Level appropriate)
Considered an Asset:
Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
Construction Safety Officer (CSO)
COR Internal Auditor Training
Incident Investigation Training
Fall Protection, Confined Space, Traffic Control, or other construction safety certifications
Experience within heavy civil, road construction, or municipal infrastructure projects

Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
