BAND: 3 (Included in the General Bargaining Unit)
SALARY: $26.96 -$29.89 per hour (37.5 hours per week)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Superintendent, Operations Support, the Tradeshelper is accountable to support the overall operation, maintenance, & repair of all Edmonton Airports’ systems and assets. This includes working closely with trades, contractors, staff and tenants to ensure our facilities are kept commercially successful with the aim of zero downtime. The Tradeshelper is highly visible to the travelling public and frequently attends service calls in a support function throughout the facilities.

POSITION SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Provides input to the Facilities Maintenance plans and directions, and ensure on-going appropriate relationships with other positions
  • Ensures the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics to limit the downtime in our facilities
  • Executes preventative maintenance duties and repairs, in accordance with the CMMS work plan
  • Performs non-planned repairs to various systems that do not require a Journeyman Certification
  • Ensures proper security protocol is followed and acts as an air side escort for contractors and equipment
  • Operates aerial lifts, forklifts, and acts as a safety watch in public areas.
  • Assists & supports Journeyman trades disciplines in the capacity of additional eyes, hands, legs and intellectual
  • Supports the trades’ disciplines in maintenance inspections as required.
  • Performs accurate and timely administrative functions that include CMMS recording, materials inventories, and work order forms
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Grade 12 diploma; equivalent combination of education and applicable experience will be considered
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience performing similar duties in a commercial or institutionalized environment
  • Previous safety training is preferred, including WHMIS and First Aid
  • Exposure to preventative and predictive maintenance programs considered an asset
  • Mechanical or electrical background considered an asset
  • Experience in the use of power and hand tools
  • Demonstrated abilities in effective communication skills with both internal and external customers and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Must secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal records check.
