Pylon Electronics Inc is an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration facility supporting both electronic and physical test equipment and is one of the largest Canadian Owned Calibration Laboratories. Pylon Electronics has a solid reputation in the repair and calibration of measuring instruments. We currently have seven laboratories located in Montreal (QC), Ottawa (ON), Toronto (ON), Dartmouth (NS), Calgary (AB), Edmonton (AB), and Richmond (BC).
What we are looking for:
Pylon Electronics is seeking an ambitious individual with skills and qualifications for a full-time position as a Physical Properties Calibration Technician to perform calibration of measuring and test equipment, perform equipment maintenance and participate in internal audits and proficiency testing. The physical properties calibration discipline covers the areas of:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Straight Edge
- Length standard
- Gauge blocks
- Height gauges
- Torque
- Pressure
- Temperature / humidity
- Tension/compression
What you will do:
- Performs calibration and testing service work according to approved standards and procedures.
- Adhere to developed calibration procedures to meet the needs of the customer while supporting traceability of the measurements.
- Maintain testing equipment in good condition and calibration of test equipment.
- Ensure preventative maintenance of the laboratory’s equipment is performed in a timely and acceptable manner.
- Complete all documentation accurately and efficiently (e.g., Process “Discrepancy Reports”).
- Report any non-conformance concerns to the management.
- Interface with customers as required and respond to customer quotations as directed.
- Solve major technical problems or questions as required.
- Introduce “time saving” measures in the labs.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures as required by the QMS.
- Perform other laboratory support functions and duties as assigned
What we require:
- Graduate of a Mechanical Technician/Technologist Program or an Electronic Technician/Technologist Program
- Minimum of 3 years experience and practical knowledge in the calibration of test and measurement equipment.
- Proficient in Windows-based products (specifically Excel and Word).
- Proven communication skills with both customers and peers.
- Strong initiative, leadership, and meticulous work habits with high attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of mathematics with some science.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in a variety of environments, ranging from clean labs to customer onsite locations.
- Ability to complete work in a timely manner to meet or exceed customer delivery expectations while maintaining high quality and professionalism.
- Valid Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s abstract
- Controlled Goods & Industrial Security Clearance of Secret Level II will be required.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a rigorous security screening to obtain a Secret Security Clearance with the Industrial Security and Controlled Goods Program.
