St. Catherine's Day Care Centre requires a SUMMER COOK/FLOAT
Job Description/Responsibilities of the Cook:
- Prepare the daily snacks and meals according to the menu, and comply with food allergies and restrictions.
- Order sufficient quantities of food and cleaning supplies within a specific budget
- Ensure proper food storage and rotation procedures are followed.
- Check the food temperatures; deliver food to the classrooms; collect all dishes after lunch/snack; wash and disinfect the dishes and food cart after each use and ensure they are put away in their appropriate places.
- Ensure the kitchen equipment and appliances are thoroughly cleaned on a daily, monthly, and seasonal basis.
- Perform cleaning/maintenance tasks
- Be flexible and willing to support in working directly with the children when required.
- Cover program staff lunch breaks.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Secondary school or approved equivalent
- Valid Food Handler Certificate
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate
- Approved police reference check
- Have WHIMIS Certificate
- Experience with cooking and baking
- Deal with somewhat routine situations; however, be flexible to adapt to daily minor changes of schedules and routines.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently, and prioritize to adhere to tight schedules
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written)
- Stand for long periods of time
- Lift/carry/move/heavy items and use step stool
- Work with chemical substances contained in cleaning supplies
