As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Psychology, Nursing, or Social Work. Registration with appropriate professional licensing body (Alberta College of Social Workers - license to provide psycho social interventions) is required. 5 or more years of recent experience in assessing for the presence of mental health disorders and providing individual mental health therapy to adolescents, and/or adults. Experience in working with the transgender population. Knowledge related to the various issues and challenges associated with the process of changing ones gender identity and how this expresses itself through the different developmental and age-related stages. Knowledge and experience with the use and application of the DSM-5. Demonstrates an ability to manage workload and to complete assessments, documentation and consultations in a timely, effective manner within a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Supervised training and experience in mental health assessment and therapy. Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Training through WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health). Experience with developing and delivering education sessions for other professionals, as well as consultation and capacity building tasks as necessary. Experience developing and leading group therapy treatment programs. Knowledge of resources and services available in Calgary and surrounding areas to support transgendered clients and (where appropriate) their families.
