Reporting to the Supervisor, Utilities, the Analyst, Accounting at Avenue Living Asset Management, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing utility expenses across our diverse portfolio of properties. You will be responsible for accurately tracking, analyzing, and reporting on utility usage, expenses, and trends. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure cost-effective utility management strategies.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Prepare monthly journal entries and generate payables while maintaining accurate records of all utility payable transactions.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations for utility expense accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial records.
- Prepare and analyze utilities accruals while ensuring accurate expense recognition in the financial statements and compliance with accounting standards.
- Analyze utility expense per property while identifying and resolving anomalies which requires ongoing coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Document accounting procedures related to utility expense management and accounts payable processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Identify opportunities to automate, streamline and further develop utility processes.
- Project manage and oversee the month-end cycle and deliverables to ensure timely reporting for internal and external stakeholder groups.

WHAT WILL YOU NEED?
- Possession of an accounting diploma or accounting degree.
- 3+ years general accounting experience, prior experience in property accounting will be considered an asset.
- Ability to work with large volume of daily transactions and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to be a self-starter, work independently, excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, experience with Yardi Voyager would be considered an asset.
