Job Summary
Qeen Biotechnologies is looking for a Quality Control Associate to join our microbiology lab. In this role, you'll perform routine and non-routine microbiology and molecular biology testing that supports our GMP manufacturing operations - from environmental monitoring and raw material testing to in-process and product release testing.
We're particularly looking for someone who brings hands-on experience in both microbiology and molecular biology, is comfortable troubleshooting assays independently, and has the discipline and technical judgment to investigate and clearly document atypical or failed results. You'll work closely with Manufacturing and QA to help ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic environment focused on excellence and precision.
What You'll Do:
Microbiology Testing & Laboratory Work
- Perform QC assays such as endotoxin testing (LAL), bioburden/microbial enumeration, microbial identification, and growth promotion testing
- Prepare media, reagents, buffers, and microbial cultures
- Maintain aseptic technique and cleanroom compliance
Molecular Biology & Biochemical Testing
- Conduct molecular biology assays including qPCR/RT-qPCR, DNA/RNA extraction and quantification, and gel electrophoresis
- Perform biochemical/analytical tests (pH, conductivity, osmolality, concentration measurements)
- Independently troubleshoot assay and instrument performance issues
Sample Handling & Documentation
- Receive, log, and prepare samples for testing across raw materials, in-process, release, and stability
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records per ALCOA+ and data-integrity principles
- Independently investigate atypical, OOS, or OOT results and prepare clear, defensible investigation documentation
Instruments & Compliance
- Perform calibration, verification, and routine maintenance of lab equipment
- Support method/instrument qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ)
- Participate in audits, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related life sciences discipline
- Practical, hands-on experience in both microbiology and molecular biology
- Demonstrated experience performing and troubleshooting microbiological and molecular assays
- Experience in a regulated (GMP/GLP) lab, with strong documentation and data-integrity habits
- A track record of independently investigating and documenting atypical or failed results
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline
- Prior knowledge of, or experience working with, bacteriophages
- Experience with LIMS/eQMS platforms, and authoring SOPs, protocols, or technical reports
You're the kind of person who:
- Works independently and takes ownership of your results
- Has sharp attention to detail and produces audit-ready work
- Applies strong technical judgment when something doesn't look right
- Digs into atypical or failed results rather than just flagging them
Pay: $48,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Casual dress
- On-site parking
- RRSP match
Work Location: In person
