The College of Nursing invites applications for a variable hour Other Academic position commencing August 24, 2026. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Academic Support – Midwifery role will have the following job responsibilities:
- Teaching within theory and clinical courses, of the Bachelor of Midwifery program.
- Preparation of theory and clinical course content, adhering to the course objectives.
- Preparation and assessment of Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs)
- Assessment of oral and written learner assignments, quizzes and exams.
- Attendance on College of Nursing committees, as required.
- Completion of The Centre of Advanced Teaching and Learning workshops, as required.
- Support of the clinical skills labs, including set up, take down and supervision of learner practice.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
EDUCATION
- Master's or Ph. D in midwifery or nursing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language, is required.
- Current registration with the College of Midwives of Manitoba or College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.
EXPERIENCE
- Expertise in prescribing and best practices for prescribing are required.
- Experience teaching theory, skills, and clinical in a Bachelor of Midwifery Program is preferred.
- Expertise on running Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCEs) is required.
- Experience working as registered midwife or registered nurse in the past 2 years is required.
- Experience in precepting students from health discipline programs is required.
- Demonstrated empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students, is required
Preferred qualifications include:
- Completion of professional development workshops offered by The Centre for Advanced Teaching and Learning, is preferred.
- Knowledge of First Nation, Metis and Inuit communities’ traditions, culture and health needs, within Manitoba, is preferred.
