Job Function
The Financial Service Representative will be required to gather and analyze information from a member in order to identify the members’ specific needs. The FSR will also make and implement recommendations based on this information with regular follow up being scheduled with this member.
Key Responsibilities
Member Engagement
- Promote, up sell and cross sell the full range of lending and investment products with emphasis on consumer loans, mortgages, lines of credit, deposits and investments.
- Act as the primary resource for opening new accounts and effectively match appropriate services to member needs.
- Identify opportunities and implement action plans to continuously improve the member experience.
- Ensure members are being welcomed and greeted professionally and promptly.
- Exhibit a high commitment to member relationships.
Execute with Excellence
- Accountable to ensure completeness and accuracy for all files.
- Process appropriate documents associated with the sale of savings and investment products including deposits, transfers or withdrawals and ensure forms associated with providing insurance and other sundry services are completed appropriately.
- Identify opportunities to promote, up sell and cross sell the credit union credit products including consumer loans, mortgages, lines of credit and credit cards.
- Interview loan and mortgage applicants, analyze financial information, assess credit and approve loans and mortgages within discretionary limits and/or make recommendations for approvals/declines to the manager.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality with respect to members’ privacy and ensure employees do the same.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all Motor City Community Credit Union's products and services and their related features and benefits.
- Follow audit, compliance, risk management , delinquency, fraud, robbery policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regard to transactions.
- Maintain proper security regarding keys, combinations, workstations, alarm codes, branch signal and all other security related policies and procedures.
- Minimize errors and potential fraudulent activities by using available resources and information appropriately.
- Execute the branch marketing program to attain loan, deposit and member growth within the objectives set forth by the manager.
- May represent the Credit Union in the community as directed by the manager by participating in local business activities and community functions.
- Ensure CRM is used to its fullest potential when managing member accounts.
- Prepare loan applications and ensure instructions outlining conditions of loan are clearly laid out on appropriate loan documentation.
- Conduct credit investigations and security searches as required and prepare releases of security on paid out loans.
- Completing loan applications and related documents for new loans, renewals, loan payment suspensions, alterations and substitutions of security.
- Provide individual financial counseling (such as debt consolidations).
- Conduct normal follow up on delinquent accounts and maintain a systematic collection procedure for early identification of problem accounts and promptly initiate or recommend appropriate action to minimize risk.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills
- Intermediate credit and interviewing techniques, credit investigation and underwriting skills.
- Previous experience in a relevant financial services environment including an in depth knowledge of all investment and lending products.
- Organizational, influencing and presentation skills.
- Computer literate in a Windows environment
- Must have a minimum of 3 years lending experience
Problem Solving
Exercise independent judgement on issues which may fall outside of standard operating principles or guidelines. Ensure files are of high quality when submitting for approval outside of individual limits. Identify, solve and provide an appropriate course of action to eliminate problems or issues. Identify any design or process inefficiencies within area of expertise.
Communication
Tact and discretion are required to resolve problems, conflicts or misunderstandings. Manage and build healthy working and consultative relationships with members and coworkers. Effective and professional communication is required in both written and verbal forms.
