SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Associate Director of Surface Finishing, as the Advanced Manufacturing System Specialist you will be responsible to lead various automation projects to drive productivity and quality improvements throughout the surface finishing department to ensure the right parts are produced within the right time with the right quality.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and define requirements with stakeholders for new projects.
Benchmark Collins Aerospace and other industries for best practices to deploy further Operational improvements
Apply project management principles including project financial management, scope and schedule management, risk and opportunity management, critical problem solving, variance and root cause analysis techniques to ensure on time delivery of product capabilities that meet customer requirements.
Understand the various plating processes to transition our current standard work into 3D, interactive digital work instructions
Research, select and lead the adaptation of various vision or light guide inspection systems within the surface finishing department. Some of these technologies are CBOTS, Holo Lens, Light, Sight or Spot guide AR systems, etc
Utilizing various Deep Learning technologies to ensure masking / tooling and part detailing is complete & correct before starting the plating cycle.
Use various statistical tools, experiementation to Identifying defects, missing items, and inconsistencies in pass / fail criteria and drive RCCA.
Connect the automation system with our digital Internet of Things (IOT) systems so that the automation solution will be monitored, linked to CIMCO the “ANDON” system to identify events that affect the progress of work in accordance with the standards.
Solve problems to improve operational effectiveness by forging consensus and coach/develop other teams’ essential knowledge
Ability to plan and facilitate productive meetings that define clear actionable next steps to improve operations effectiveness
Maintain solid working relationships with all stakeholders within the organization, including production, ME, quality, materials, program management and MRB Engineering

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR
In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
Strong understanding of Continuous Improvement and Lean Techniques and applications
Demonstrated proficiency in all MS office applications, ERP experience necessary (SAP preferred)
Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Sliver Certified preferred
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP.
