Role Summary
The Communications & Outreach Board Member supports the organization's visibility, public engagement, and community awareness efforts. This individual helps strengthen relationships with community members, partners, volunteers, and stakeholders while contributing to the organization's communication strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Communications
- Provide guidance and support on organizational communications and public messaging.
- Assist in promoting the organization's mission, programs, events, and impact.
- Review and contribute to communication materials when appropriate.
- Support the development of strategies to increase community awareness and engagement.
Community Outreach
- Help identify opportunities to connect with community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders.
- Serve as an ambassador for the organization within the community.
- Assist in building and maintaining positive relationships with partners and supporters.
- Support outreach initiatives that increase participation, volunteer engagement, and community involvement.
Strategic Support
- Contribute ideas and recommendations regarding communications, marketing, and public relations.
- Help identify opportunities to strengthen the organization's public presence and reputation.
- Participate in board discussions and strategic planning initiatives.
Qualifications
- Must be functionally bilingual: French & English
- Experience or interest in communications, marketing, public relations, social media, community engagement, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
- Passion for community development and social impact.
- Previous nonprofit or board experience is an asset but not required.
Time Commitment
- 1-2 Board meetings/ month (3-6 hours/ month)
