Under the direction ofthe Engineering Manager, the Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for designing Outside Plant Telecommunications infrastructure and facilities in accordance with Engineering principles, guidelines, policies and safety standards.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTING OUTCOMES

Analyze surveys to collect and organize basic engineering data to develop design layouts and prepare all engineering documentation required for a complete functional design

Liaise with internal and external customers, developers, municipal officials and other approving authorities to remove roadblocks and obtain the necessary approvals for design drawings

Prepare accurate documentation to track time, expenses and events for billing purpose

Research design information from GIS based systems and import data into AutoCAD

Prepare OSP designs in graphical tools provided, OSP designs will include various aerial and buried design (Fiber/Copper designs) etc.

Prepare construction sheets, construction unit tabulations and construction summary reports

Prepare ROW drawings, assemble ROW permits

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge and Experience
-
Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering Technology

Major in Telecommunications and Networks
-
3+ years’ relevant experience ideally in Telecommunication Field

Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point
-
Knowledge in the following considered an asset: Reporter software for OTDR, FTTX, SpatialNet, MicroStation and VMware

Work Hours
General hours of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. But ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required.
