Part-Time Human Resources Assistant Intern
Job Overview
Merlin Plastics is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Human Resources Assistant to support the daily operations of the Human Resources department. This role is ideal for a student, recent graduate, or HR professional looking to gain hands-on experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administration within a fast-paced manufacturing and recycling environment.
Schedule: Part-Time (24 hours)/ week
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with recruitment activities, including job postings, resume screening, and interview scheduling.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and orientation processes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Prepare employment letters, forms, and HR documentation.
- Track employee training, certifications, and probation reviews.
- Support attendance tracking and employee file management.
- Assist with employee engagement and recognition initiatives.
- Maintain HR databases and HRIS records.
- Respond to routine employee inquiries regarding policies and procedures.
- Support workplace health and safety documentation and recordkeeping.
- Perform general administrative duties and other HR-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ongoing diploma, degree, or current studies in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous administrative or HR experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HRIS systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of BC Employment Standards is an asset.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset.
