This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced production professional who has proven experience working in a food manufacturing environment and understands the importance of production scheduling, employee coordination, food safety, quality, productivity, and meeting daily production targets.
We are looking for a hands-on Production Supervisor who can confidently lead a production team, manage daily schedules, resolve operational issues, and ensure production runs safely, efficiently, and on time.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Production Supervisor will oversee day-to-day production operations and provide leadership and direction to production employees.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring production schedules are followed, staffing levels are appropriate, employees are properly assigned, food safety and GMP standards are maintained, and production targets are achieved.
This position requires someone who is comfortable being on the production floor, working directly with employees, monitoring workflow, addressing issues, and coordinating with departments such as Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Shipping, Purchasing, and Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProduction Scheduling & Planning
- Prepare, coordinate, and manage daily and weekly production schedules.
- Plan production according to customer orders, production requirements, staffing availability, equipment capacity, and material availability.
- Assign employees to production lines, workstations, and tasks based on operational requirements.
- Monitor production schedules throughout the shift and make adjustments when priorities change.
- Adjust staffing and production plans due to absenteeism, equipment downtime, material shortages, urgent orders, or changes in production requirements.
- Ensure production priorities are clearly communicated to employees and relevant departments.
- Coordinate with Warehouse to ensure raw materials and packaging supplies are available and properly staged.
- Work with Maintenance and Quality teams to minimize production interruptions.
- Monitor production progress and ensure scheduled production is completed within required timelines.
Team Supervision & Leadership
- Supervise and provide daily direction to production employees.
- Assign tasks and distribute workloads based on production requirements.
- Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, performance, and adherence to company policies.
- Support employee onboarding, training, coaching, and development.
- Train employees on production procedures, SOPs, GMP, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety.
- Provide clear instructions and expectations to production staff.
- Address employee performance and operational concerns professionally.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, productivity, and a positive workplace environment.
- Lead by example and maintain strong standards for safety, quality, attendance, and performance.
- Communicate staffing and operational concerns to management.
Food Safety, GMP & Quality
- Ensure all production activities comply with GMP, food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and company SOP requirements.
- Ensure employees follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Monitor production areas for cleanliness, organization, and compliance.
- Ensure products are manufactured according to established quality specifications.
- Identify quality issues, damaged products, production discrepancies, and potential food safety concerns.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance/Quality Control to address quality issues.
- Support food safety inspections, audits, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Ensure production employees understand and follow food safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
Productivity & Production Performance
- Monitor daily production output against established targets.
- Track productivity, labour utilization, production efficiency, waste, rework, and downtime.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement solutions where possible.
- Investigate recurring production issues and assist with root-cause analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow and operational efficiency.
- Monitor employee productivity and provide coaching where required.
- Prepare and communicate production updates and shift reports.
- Ensure production goals are achieved while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Equipment & Maintenance Coordination
- Monitor production equipment and identify mechanical or operational concerns.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance department when equipment breakdowns or issues affect production.
- Communicate equipment downtime and its impact on production schedules.
- Assist with prioritizing maintenance requirements.
- Ensure employees operate production equipment according to established SOPs and safety procedures.
- Support equipment changeovers and production start-up procedures where required.
Inventory & Material Coordination
- Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure raw materials and packaging materials are available.
- Ensure materials are staged appropriately before production begins.
- Monitor material usage and report shortages or discrepancies.
- Support proper inventory rotation and FIFO procedures.
- Coordinate movement of raw materials, work-in-progress, finished products, and packaging materials.
- Communicate material shortages or inventory concerns to management and relevant departments.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a strong safety culture within the production department.
- Ensure employees follow company safety procedures and SOPs.
- Identify hazards and unsafe working conditions.
- Report workplace incidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and training.
- Ensure employees are properly trained before performing assigned tasks.
- Support compliance with applicable WorkSafeBC and company health and safety requirements.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONSMandatory Requirements
- Previous proven experience working in a food manufacturing or food production facility is required.
- Minimum 2 year of solid experience with production scheduling and/or production coordination.
- Previous supervisory, team lead, or production leadership experience.
- Experience assigning work and coordinating production employees.
- Practical understanding of food manufacturing processes and production workflow.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and SOP requirements.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing production requirements.
- Comfortable using computers, spreadsheets, production systems, and other workplace technology.
- Strong attendance and reliability.
- Ability to work on-site in Delta, BC.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
The following would be considered an asset:
- HACCP certification or knowledge.
- Food Safety certification.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, or production management systems.
- Experience tracking production KPIs.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement.
- Experience managing multiple production lines.
- Experience with automated food processing or packaging equipment.
- Experience supporting audits and corrective action programs.
- First Aid certification.
- Mechanical aptitude.

For example, if an employee calls in sick, equipment goes down, an ingredient is delayed, or an urgent production order is added, the Production Supervisor should be able to quickly reorganize staffing and workflow, communicate the changes, and keep production moving.
