Here’s the job opportunity…
As a Counsel at ivari you will be working in a small, collegial legal and compliance department of a fast-paced financial services company, providing legal advice to internal customers in a timely and professional manner, with an opportunity to engage in both strategic and day-to-day business and compliance issues. This is an excellent opportunity for a Corporate Commercial lawyer with 1 to 4 years’ experience who is motivated to provide excellent service, is dedicated to continuous learning and enjoys applying knowledge and expertise to financial advisory services in a culture that offers work/life balance.
You will:
Provide excellent and friendly legal advice to all staff levels relating to ivari’s conduct of business, including:

Product development, product marketing review, policy contract drafting and interpretation as well as legal support throughout the product lifecycle

Supporting compliance on market conduct and regulatory issues and legislative changes
-
Fintech advisory services
-
Corporate commercial work, including reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on legal issues and risks

Special projects as they arise

Represent the Company at industry association committees and working groups
What we are looking for…
-
You are an LLB/JD
-
You have been called to the Bar in Ontario or another province in Canada
-
You are a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada
-
You have one to four years of relevant working experience in the practice of law, preferably in a financial institution or related practice;

Business-minded, you focus on the business needs and are skilled in offering solutions to mitigate legal risks.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including contract drafting

Proven organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities
-
Independent and motivated to provide excellent advice in an effective and efficient manner to all staff levels in a professional, customer focused manner to ensure resolution

Bilingual reading and drafting skills, an asset
