Job Description:
We are seeking a Technical Documentation Specialist to join our boat manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for generating accurate and comprehensive technical documentation, including parts lists, wiring diagrams, and detailed outline drawings to support the construction and assembly of custom and production boats.
The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of boat construction, and proficiency in CAD software and electrical systems. You will work closely with engineering, design, and production teams to ensure that all technical documents align with production requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Parts Lists: Create and maintain comprehensive bill of materials (BOM) and parts lists for each boat model, ensuring all components are accounted for, correctly specified, and sourced.
· Wiring Diagrams: Develop and maintain electrical wiring diagrams and schematics for boats, ensuring proper functionality of electrical systems, lights, motors, batteries, and other equipment.
· Outline & Assembly Drawings: Create detailed technical drawings, assembly instructions, and outline specifications to guide the boat manufacturing and assembly process.
· Collaboration: Work with design engineers, production teams, and suppliers to resolve technical issues, clarify specifications, and ensure documentation accuracy.
· Revision Control: Maintain version control and ensure all updates to documents are reflected in production schedules and plans.
· Compliance: Ensure all designs and documentation comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety guidelines (e.g., ABYC, ISO).
· Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving processes and documentation standards to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality.
Qualifications:
· Education: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Experience: Previous experience in boat design, marine technical documentation, or a related role.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and experience with electrical systems in the marine industry.
· Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate, and detailed documentation.
· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
· Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with marine construction, boat systems, and relevant safety and regulatory standards (e.g. ABYC).
Preferred:
· Experience with boat manufacturing or assembly.
· Knowledge of marine-specific components such as engines, fuel systems, plumbing, and navigation electronics.

Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
