As an Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for being both a practicioner and an evangelist for the culture shift from tradtional development methods to DevOps. This role will ensure that all DevOps best practices are encouraged, adopted, and applied to the Medavie software development projects of all types. This will be achieved by learning, adapting, and encouraging new processes and technologies throughout Medavie IT.
This role will also ensure DevOps practices align to Medavie Blue Cross Automation and Architecture strategies while provideing oversight and guidance to the process maturity.
Improve and implement automated build and release pipelines
Create reproducible automated build and release processes
Manage cloud services with scalability, robustness and security in mind.
Implement Continuous Delivery Workflows
Ensure monitoring and self healing strategies are implemented and maintained to proactively prevent client disruptions.
Leverage and implement Containers and Container Orchestration for repeatable delivery and highly available client solutions.
Align to Medavie Automation strategies and ensure automation is on the forefront of all activities.
Establish KPI’s to demonstrate maturity, efficiency and value to the client both internal and external.
Act as both a model practicioner and evangelist while working as part of the DevOps team to spread the adoption of DevOps in MBC.
Working with Enterprise Architects to design and implement end-to-end solutions that enable automated DevOps in MBC IT.
Work in an ever-changing, rapid pace environment to create bulletproof, expandable solutions, while maintaining current solutions.
Works as an integral part of the DevOps team with complementary skills and common goals.
Education: University degree in Computer Science or similar program preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of IT experience in service operations, and/or development projects
Knowledge of DevOps best practices, industry trends, and solutions.
Strong understanding of technical infrastructure and development lifecycle.
ITIL Foundations and other ITIL Cerfifications
Understanding of software and hardware systems components.
Strong communication and problem solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a busy technical environment
Good understanding of software development, build and testing best practices
A high attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and key judgment skills
Working knowledge of the environment and tools and technology used by the application and infrastructure area.
Working knowledge of Software Engineering Process
Proficiency in technologies such as Git, Nexus, AWS, Ansible, Databases, Linux, PowerSHell, Docker, CICD, Automation, Programming, Scripting, Networking, Integration and Testing.
Proficiency in English is required (written and spoken). Proficiency in French is considered an asset.
