The Role
If you are a creative, community-minded professional with a passion for building relationships and a drive to support financial sustainability for North Simcoe businesses, this position could be for you! This is a great opportunity to take the lead on growing the Chamber in partnership with an experienced and committed Board of Directors.Reporting to the Board, the GM will provide leadership and direction to achieving the Chamber's mission and objectives. Acting as a liaison among members, the Board, staff, volunteers, government and partners, the GM is responsible for overseeing the delivery of all programs and services, membership growth and retention, finances, daily operations, community and public relations and advocacy.Taking care of business! In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber. You will drive membership recruitment and retention and develop innovative ways to add value. You will explore creative ways to drive revenue to ensure financial stability for the Chamber. You will plan and execute events, forge collaborative partnerships and sponsorships, and work to enhance the Chamber's reputation and value within the business community. You are responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with staff, members, community partners and stakeholders, Board of Directors and municipal partners.
Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing or Economic Development
- Minimum 5 years management experience in a related field
- Experience with other business associations, economic development offices or not-for-profit associations
- Knowledge/familiarity with North Simcoe encompassing Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay & Tiny Township
- Excellent leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with budgets and financial reporting
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills
- Skilled problem solver and sound decision-maker
- Highly organized and goal oriented with a proven track record of achieving results
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter who works well under limited supervision
