EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: MARINA & RECREATION COORDINATOR (NON-UNION)
The Town of Gananoque is seeking an outstanding candidate to serve as the Marina & Recreation Coordinator. Reporting to the Superintendent of Parks, Recreation & Facilities, the Coordinator is responsible for the operations of the Gananoque Municipal Marina, and the overall program / marketing / revenue generation of the marina, arena, parks, sports fields, and related facilities/services. The incumbent initiates the planning and delivery of recreation programs delivered by the Town.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Gananoque Municipal Marina with 398 boat slips being the largest single municipal marina between Montreal and Toronto.
- Responsible for the co-ordination of facility maintenance at the marina with contractors and staff. Assists in the planning and project management of capital expenditures of the marina.
- Provides onsite supervision of staff to ensure exceptional performance of tasks and duties, ensures staff work in a safe, courteous and professional manner.
- Coordinates all recreation facility bookings (including ice rentals) of the municipal arena, outdoor rink, sports fields and parks. Responsible for the execution of user group rental agreements/permits in accordance with the predetermined policies and procedures and utilizing the reservation software system.
- Responsible for the marketing of all Parks & Recreation facilities and coordinates all advertising agreements for all Town owned facilities which includes but is not limited to: contracts, payment administration and complaint resolution.
- Responsible for the arena, outdoor rink, facilities & parks cash receipts, prepares statements for Treasury.
- Provides site tours and coordinates events at Town-owned parks and facilities in collaboration with the Events Coordinator.
- Responsible for the creation and implementation of community recreation programming in alignment with department goals set out by the Manager of Parks & Recreation and Council.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in business administration, recreation and/or related facility operations.
- Ability to work and lead in a team environment using discretion in a public and political environment.
- At least four (4) years progressive experience in recreation/tourism management operations, including supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain positive working relationships and to work collaboratively and effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, customer service and interpersonal skills; uses tact and diplomacy; effectively delivers consistent messages providing the right information at the right time to the right audience.
- An effective critical thinker and problem-solver.
- Computer literacy in MSOffice products i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook. As well as other software technologies i.e. PerfectMind, PSD Citywide, Marina booking software.
- Class G Driver's license in good standing and reliable vehicle to use on department/corporate business.
- Availability to assist with emergency response and to attend after-hours meetings as required.
- Demonstrated level of professionalism and confidentiality with strong ethics.
The annual 2026 Salary wage range $60,770 to $81,244 based on a 35-hour workweek with an excellent benefit package.
