Teine is looking for a Drilling Superintendent to join our Calgary head office team, in January 2025. Reporting directly to the Drilling Manager. This role requires periods of time on-site and may involve irregular hours based on operational needs. This role is essential to the safe and profitable execution of drilling projects, ensuring strict compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all stages of the drilling process to ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency, adjusting plans as needed to achieve project milestones and maintain budget.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers and rig managers, to plan and execute drilling activities according to timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations by implementing and monitoring safety programs that meet company and regulatory standards.
- Provide technical guidance on well design, mud systems, completions, and other critical drilling elements, troubleshooting issues in real-time to minimize downtime and safety risks.
- Act as the primary liaison between the rig site and corporate offices, preparing detailed reports on daily activities, expenditures, cost-saving measures, and project forecasts.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships to ensure timely, quality delivery of materials and oversee maintenance schedules for rigs and equipment.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in drilling operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role overseeing field activities
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Petroleum Technology, or a related field (optional but preferred).
- Well Control Certification, Safety Management Certification, or safety equivalent programs.
- Proficiency in drilling software, equipment, and techniques.
- Strong management and leadership skills and the ability to handle complex operations and supervise field team effectively.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues quickly and effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to report progress and challenges to various stakeholders.
