The Burrito Maker/Prep Cook plays a key role in delivering fresh, high-quality burritos and maintaining smooth kitchen operations. This position is responsible for preparing ingredients, assembling burritos to order, and upholding exceptional food safety and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare fresh ingredients daily, including chopping vegetables, portioning proteins, cooking rice and beans, and making salsas or sauces.
- Assemble burritos and other menu items according to standardized recipes and guest preferences, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and presentation quality.
- Warm, handle, and portion tortillas and fillings correctly to maintain product freshness and flavor.
- Maintain a clean, organized prep and assembly station throughout the shift, following proper sanitation and food-handling procedures.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, warmers, rice cookers, and food processors safely and efficiently.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene guidelines, including proper labeling, dating, and storage of ingredients.
- Monitor ingredient levels during service and communicate restocking needs to the kitchen manager or supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure fast, efficient service during peak hours.
- Provide friendly and professional interactions when confirming customer orders or answering questions at the counter (if required by the restaurant setup).
- Support opening and closing duties, including restocking, cleaning, and preparing stations for the next shift.
Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-casual or fresh-food environment preferred, but not required.
- Strong knife skills and comfort working in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion guidelines, and safety standards consistently.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
