We are looking for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Commercial Lines Department.

You will:
Issue, endorse, renew or cancel policies following underwriting policies/procedures, applicable laws and regulations subject to personal authority level. Apply standard terms and pricing on commercial lines business, in accordance with Intact practices and local management direction
Input policy information into the system. Search for information relevant to the underwriting function. Provide certificates of insurance to brokers as per established guidelines
Answer straightforward inquiries from brokers promptly. Support the underwriting team in completing sales by assisting with requests and other administrative duties
Identify, search, log and distribute quotes and renewals
As directed, generate letters and memos to brokers from the system using form letters
Retrieve information relevant to the underwriting function either by pulling files or checking policy history and financial strength through appropriate channels
Review select underwriting reports and establish required action based on authority level
Assist underwriters with administration for large complex policies.

Your Skills

Post-secondary degree or diploma
1 to 2 years of working experience
Keyboarding skills and knowledge of computers required
Must be able to develop a proficiency in the use and knowledge of all computer systems related to the role’s particular commercial underwriting functions
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
Knowledge of the Property and Casualty industry
Currently pursuing CIP designation
