About You:
As a fast-growing fintech, we stay true to our startup roots. You picture yourself within a vibrant and entrepreneurial organization where your ideas will be heard, and you have an opportunity to showcase your talent. You are motivated by goals, a self-starter and like to wear multiple hats.
Reporting to the Manager, Database Engineering, you will collaborate with the DevOps team and software development teams to manage databases and data pipelines of Propel and all brand web sites and mobile applications.
Responsibilities
- Managing production, development, and QA MySQL database environments
- Responsible for managing and responding to multiple monitoring/alerting tools
- Maintain various backup processes
- Identify and resolve performance issues
- Work with multiple teams to identify and resolve slow queries
- Manage and troubleshoot replication
- Help manage the database support ticketing system and maintain relationships with our Vendor
- You may also be part of planning, creating and managing data pipelines
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in MySQL database management
- 3+ years of experience writing complex/efficient SQL
- 3+ years of bash scripting
- 3+ years of at least 1 other programming language (Python is a bonus)
- Experience working in Linux environments
- Experience with database and operating systems monitoring tools
- ETL/Data Pipelines are a nice bonus
