Our Halton region client is an exciting, dynamic and growing private company looking to add an Accounting Supervisor to the team who will report directly to the Controller. Due to several acquisitions across Canada, our client is experiencing strong and rapid growth.

The Accounting Supervisor will be an organized self-starter who has full cycle accounting experience and strong leadership skills. The successful candidate must demonstrate experience supervising accounting teams and be a strong leader. To be considered for this position, you must have full cycle accounting experience including oversight of A/R, A/P, payroll, tax, fixed assets, month-end close, account reconciliations, and monthly reporting. Job costing experience is preferred. ERP experience is required. To be considered for the role of Accounting Supervisor, you must be a designated CPA with 5+ years of experience, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience.

Your responsibilities in this role

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
  • Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
  • Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations
  • Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required
  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
  • CPA designation required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
  • Financial statement preparation experience
  • Solid understanding of financial analysis
  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
