Terms of Employment: Temporary 8-week job starting Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Must be able to work through Saturday. August 8, 2026. Tuesday through Saturday, 10am – 5pm, 35 hours per week, with some flexibility to negotiate hours. 1 hour unpaid lunch.
The Carnegie Gallery is a nonprofit gallery and shop in Dundas, Ontario. The Gallery Shop features a vast array of local fine art and crafts. The Gallery Exhibition space exhibits art and craft created by contemporary Canadian artists, with exhibitions changing monthly. We also offer various educational programs, such as lectures, children’s art classes, bus trips, and fundraising events, including our Carnegie Concert Series and Secret Gardens Tour.
Job Description: The Project Administrative Officer will play a crucial role in providing essential support to the Carnegie Gallery's Marketing Coordinator. This involves assisting with various tasks associated with the maintenance and improvement of the gallery’s website, social media and email campaigns. Ideal for students with a passion for digital marketing, graphic design, and an interest in fine art. This position supports our mission to connect art with the community. In addition, the Project Administration Officer will be responsible for organizing a four-day “Art Week” class session running from August 4-7, for 9-15 year old children. The officer wil be responsible for the promotions, registration, and implementation of the “Art Week” days alongside the instructor.
Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain the gallery’s social media.
- Use a DSLR camera and Adobe software to capture and edit high-quality images of products for the website and social platforms.
- Develop promotional email campaigns and newsletter content as required.
- Assist with creating social media graphics for programming and events using Canva and Adobe.
- Review the website for errors, inconsistencies, or outdated information, and communicate with the Marketing Coordinator and the Website Administrator.
- Retail experience is preferred, and gallery experience is considered an asset.
- Initiative and creative thinking.
- Provide Gallery Shop support (customer inquiries, transactions and answering the phone) as needed.
- “Art Week” Children’s Summer workshop: creation and distribution of physical and digital promotional materials, managing registration and correspondence, event assistance
Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Canva.
- Strong experience with DSLR cameras.
- Experience with MailerLite or equivalent email software preferred.
- Familiarity with Google Ads, Google Analytics, and other data analytics tools (preferred).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Background:
- College/University, Digital Media or Marketing, Fine Art, or related fields.
- Post-secondary school experience in these fields is desirable and an asset.
- Retail and e-commerce experience are assets.

- Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible).
- Is legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
- Is willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment.
- Will not have another full-time job (over 30 hours a week) or other Canada Summer jobs position during the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) work assignment.
