IT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

The IT Systems Specialist is responsible for providing exceptional technical support to all users, ensuring smooth and

efficient resolution of IT-related issues, while also playing a critical role in safeguarding our company's information

systems. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading hardware, software, and networks, as well as

providing technical support to all users.

This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively balance user support responsibilities with cybersecurity

tasks, including monitoring, threat detection, and incident response. The position requires a passion for technology,

excellent problem-solving skills, detail-oriented and a commitment to maintaining a secure IT environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

General activities and functions include, but are not limited to:

Technical User Support:

Provide timely and effective technical support to end users via phone, email, or in-person.

Respond to users with computer problems; analyze and resolve problems with Windows Environment, including

network cabling, wireless and Virtual Private Network.

Provide user support on Microsoft Office/M365 environment and other custom programs.

Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, peripherals, and mobile devices.

Educate users on best practices for using software and hardware.

Create and update user guides and documentation.

Conduct training sessions for new and existing users on various IT systems and tools.

Incident Management:

Log and manage support requests using a ticketing system.

Prioritize and escalate issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution.

Track and document the progress and resolution of incidents.

System Maintenance and Security

Maintain and install computer hardware and software.

Maintain the security of Enterprise Workstations including password and program access control.

Run, schedule and maintain the backup systems; including Mean Time To Recover Tests.

Maintain inventory control and inventory record keeping. Assist senior IT staff with user needs analysis as required

Operate security system controls and maintain the security database

Monitor network activity to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.

Perform regular infrastructure security and vulnerability assessments.

Investigate security breaches and other cybersecurity incidents.

Install and maintain security software, such as firewalls, antivirus programs, and intrusion detection systems.

Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for improving security posture.

Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats and trends.

Train and educate employees on cybersecurity best practices.

Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure comprehensive security measures.

Maintain documentation related to security policies, procedures, and incidents.

Participate in the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary education with a Certificate / Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Three (3) to Five (5) years direct experience in networking, network security, computer and software trouble

shooting and supporting end-users. Strong understanding of Virtualization, Cybersecurity, and IT Service

management

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning System is an asset.

Strong Customer Service orientation, with excellent communication skills and patience.

Must possess a high level of professionalism and be able to interact with all levels in positive and competent manner.

Highly organized, possess sound judgment and the ability to effectively solve problem and/or escalate accordingly.

Excellent communication skills both oral and written.

Resourceful self-starter, able to work independently and within a team environment.

Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to change.

Fluency in both official languages, English and French, Oral and Written is an asset.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Criminal record check will be conducted on hire.

Must be able to obtain and retain Transport Canada Security Clearance

Annual Driver’s License validity check, as applicable.

Flexibility to work occasional extended hours or weekends, as the need arises.

Position is mobile, requirements to travel to all business units as needed is required
