Kontur Geotechnical Consultants Inc. (Kontur) is a full-service Geotechnical Consulting Engineering and Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, and Soil) firm providing engineering consultation, construction field reviews, and construction materials testing for a wide array of projects and clients throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Kontur’s foundation is built on quality people doing great work in a rewarding environment.
Kontur is growing, and we are looking for a Dispatch/Field Coordinator to become the nerve centre of our field and laboratory operations. Every client request for materials testing flows through Dispatch, and every technician heading out to a site starts their day with the schedule you build. If you enjoy solving a moving puzzle of people, projects, vehicles, and equipment, and take pride in being the person a whole team relies on, this role was made for you.
This is a permanent hourly position based at our main office in Port Coquitlam. Hours follow the rhythm of the construction season: extended hours through the busy months (approximately May through November) and a reduced schedule through the winter. Core office hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional paid weekend standby coverage on a rotating basis. We are happy to discuss the seasonal schedule in detail during the interview process.
What You Will Do:
- Act as the first point of contact for all incoming service requests by phone and email, assess each request, and route it to the right team;
- Build and manage the daily field schedule, assigning technicians to projects based on their qualifications, availability, and project requirements;
- Create clear, complete dispatch tickets (scope, site details, contacts, and specifications) in Microsoft Planner so technicians arrive on site prepared;
- Manage changes, cancellations, and same-day requests, keeping clients, technicians, and project managers informed at every step;
- Coordinate travel arrangements, including hotels, flights, and vehicle rentals, for out-of-town projects;
- Coordinate scheduling and maintenance of field equipment and the company vehicle fleet, and maintain inventory of field consumables and safety supplies;
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activity, client requests, changes, and equipment utilization; and,
- Support data compilation, documentation, and reporting for materials testing services.
What You Bring:
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities, and the composure to keep a busy schedule on track in a fast-paced, continually evolving environment;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the habits of an active listener, professional with clients and supportive of the field team;
- A team-first attitude with the initiative to solve problems, adapt, and follow through reliably;
- Solid computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Word);
- A valid BC driver’s licence; and,
- A Grade 12 high school diploma (minimum).
It Would Be a Bonus If You Have:
- Experience in dispatch, scheduling, logistics, or another coordination role;
- Knowledge of construction materials testing or the construction industry; or,
- Post-secondary certificates or training.
What Kontur Offers:
- An hourly wage of $25 to $32 per hour, depending on experience;
- Group Benefits (50% employer paid);
- Vacation pay, plus five personal/flex/sick days and twelve statutory holidays;
- Phone allowance;
- Continued Professional Development plans and policies; and,
- A supportive, people-first team where your work is visible and valued every day.
To apply, please send your resume to [email protected] with “Dispatch/Field Coordinator” in the subject line. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
