Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to provide servicing, repairs and ongoing upkeep of the greenhouses and physical assets to ensure the optimal outcome of the crop.
Job Description:
General maintenance tasks include but are not limited to building repairs & maintenance, equipment repairs & maintenance and troubleshooting building systems.
Hours of work will range from 20-30 hours a week, with additional hours where and when needed, dependent on the time of year; on-call, weekend and holiday availability are required
The warehouses/greenhouses may be extremely hot, humid or cold at any time of the year. Temperatures ranging from 40-50° or hotter in the greenhouse in the summertime. These conditions are not ideal for those with health conditions (such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, cerebrovascular disease, and diabetes-related conditions). Working in a greenhouse setting, there will also be exposure to pests.
Wage starting at $21.50, with room to grow based on performance.
Qualifications:
· Greenhouse maintenance experience would be considered an asset.
· 1-2 Years of Maintenance Experience
· Electrical experience is an asset
· Plumbing experience is an asset
· Welding experience is an asset
· Experience using hand and electrical tools.
· Ability to read manuals and drawings is an asset.
· Basic math abilities required.
· Ability to analyze and reason problems and issues, attention to detail.
· Must have great written and verbal communication skills.
· Must be safety conscientious and be able to keep work area tidy.
· Willing to commit to continuous learning.
· Some confidentiality regarding company-related matters
· Multi-tasking, time management and prioritizing are essential.
· Able to work independently with minimal instruction and high accountability while also able to work with others
· Safety shoes required.
· Working at heights may be required.
· The Maintenance employee will be required to do some heavy lifting, digging, or other physical labour within the position. It would be beneficial to be physically fit.
· A valid driver’s licence is required.
