The Role
GrizzlyTrek is seeking a Truck Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our valued client's team in Fort St. John, BC. This is a dual role for operators who are confident both behind the wheel and in the seat of heavy equipment, working across active construction and hauling environments.
The work combines hauling materials by Class 1 tractor trailer with operating equipment such as loaders, excavators, and dozers as required on site. Successful candidates move between driving and operating seamlessly, maintain productivity, and work safely in fast-paced and remote northern conditions. This position requires the ability to operate a manual transmission, and a clean driving record and strong safety focus are essential.
What You'll Do

Operate a Class 1 tractor trailer to haul materials in and around the Fort St. John area.

Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, and dozers as required on site.

Move between driving and equipment operation to keep the job site productive.

Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and daily equipment checks.

Load, secure, and unload materials in line with load securement standards.

Maintain accurate records in compliance with hours of service requirements.

Report mechanical issues on trucks and equipment promptly.

Follow all traffic laws, site safety requirements, and safe operating procedures.
What You Bring

Valid Class 1 driver's licence with air brake endorsement.

Ability to operate a manual transmission (required).

Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, or dozers.

Clean driver's abstract.

Ability to complete pre-trip inspections and basic vehicle and equipment checks.

Physically able to perform load securement, unloading, and equipment operation tasks.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in construction or hauling environments.

Oilfield safety tickets such as H2S Alive and CSTS.

Experience operating a range of equipment types across different site conditions.

Familiarity with Fort St. John and northern BC road and site conditions.

Load securement and cargo handling experience.
Work Environment

Active construction and hauling sites in and around Fort St. John and northern BC.

Work alternates between driving and operating heavy equipment through the day.

Exposure to varying weather, seasonal, and remote site conditions.

Physical tasks including climbing in and out of the cab and equipment, and load securement.

Personal protective equipment required on site.
