About the Position
We are looking for an experienced, professional, and reliable online English teacher to join our growing team. This role focuses primarily on teaching adult learners in China in an online setting.
Our students are typically committed, long-term learners who sign up with the intention of studying consistently over time. Because of this, we are looking for a teacher who is not only strong in the classroom, but also able to provide structure, consistency, and a positive learning experience that encourages students to continue their studies long-term.
All core teaching materials and curriculum guidance will be provided. We are looking for a teacher who can follow our curriculum carefully while also knowing how to expand on lesson content, personalize activities when appropriate, and make lessons more engaging and effective.
This is a remote position, ideal for someone who enjoys working with motivated adult learners and building a steady student base over time.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Teach online English lessons to adult students using the provided curriculum and teaching materials
- Follow lesson plans carefully while also being able to expand on lesson content in a thoughtful and professional way
- Prepare for each class in advance by reviewing materials and adapting delivery to suit the student’s level and goals
- Build strong, consistent relationships with regular students who are studying over a longer period of time
- Help students improve speaking, pronunciation, fluency, grammar, vocabulary, and overall confidence in English
- Create engaging, well-structured lessons that feel professional, interactive, and personalized
- Track student progress and provide useful feedback when needed
- Maintain professionalism, punctuality, and reliability in both teaching and communication
Experience
- Previous English teaching experience is required
- Experience teaching adult learners is strongly preferred
- Experience teaching in an online setting is strongly preferred
- Strong ability to follow an established curriculum while also expanding lessons naturally and effectively
- Experience building rapport with long-term students and supporting consistent language development over time
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain language clearly and professionally
- Experience with speaking-focused lessons, pronunciation correction, and conversational fluency development is a strong asset
- A background in ESL/EFL instruction, language coaching, or adult education is highly preferred
We are especially interested in teachers who understand that adult learners often value consistency, professionalism, clear lesson structure, and measurable improvement over time.
Salary & Compensation
Pay is competitive and in line with the market, typically $18–$24 per hour to start.
As we build a strong and consistent student base together, higher rates may become possible over time. We are looking for teachers who want to grow steadily with us and build lasting student relationships.
Payments are processed monthly via PayPal or E-Transfer.
Additional opportunities may become available for teachers who demonstrate strong performance, professionalism, and long-term commitment.
Requirements
- Fluency in English at a native or near-native level
- English teaching experience is required
- Experience teaching adult students is strongly preferred
- Ability to follow provided curriculum and teaching guidance consistently
- Confidence expanding on lesson materials in a way that adds value without straying from teaching goals
- Strong internet connection and quiet, professional teaching environment
- Professional, punctual, organized, and committed to student success
- Comfortable building consistency with students who often study with the same teacher over an extended period of time
Availability
Teachers should have availability during our peak student hours in Beijing time, including:
- Weekday evenings: 6:00–10:00 PM Beijing time
- Weekend mornings: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM Beijing time
- Availability on Saturday and Sunday mornings (Beijing time) is especially valuable, as these are among the busiest times for student bookings.
Greater flexibility, especially on weekends, can lead to more student matches and a more stable schedule over time.
Open availability does not always mean every hour will be filled immediately, but teachers who keep more peak-hour time slots open generally have a better chance of building a regular student base.
You will be communicated with regarding scheduling and lesson preparation, so you will have sufficient time to prepare and adjust as needed.
