Cost Control Specialist (12-Month Contract | 10/4 Schedule)We’re looking for an energetic and detail‑driven Cost Control Specialist who’s ready to dive into large‑scale projects, collaborate with high‑performing teams, and help ensure our work is delivered on time, on budget, and with excellence.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys working on complex projects, and brings a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset to cost management.
Role Details:
- Contract Duration: 12 months
- Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off
- Work Hours: 10-hour days (on site)
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Budgeting & Cost Planning
- Build and maintain detailed project budgets based on estimates and contracts.
- Assist in developing cost breakdown structures (CBS).
- Review and validate cost estimates during tender and pre‑construction stages.
- Set up financial control procedures and reporting systems that keep everyone aligned.
2. Cost Monitoring & Reporting
- Track actual vs. budgeted costs and monitor commitments.
- Produce weekly and monthly cost reports that keep the team informed.
- Flag variances, identify trends, and highlight cost‑saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of commitments, invoices, and payments.
3. Forecasting
- Prepare and update Estimates at Completion (EAC).
- Create cash flow projections that help leadership make smart decisions.
- Identify financial risks and offer strategic recommendations.
4. Change Management
- Monitor change orders and variation claims.
- Assess cost impacts of scope changes.
- Support contract administration by reviewing subcontractor claims.
5. Procurement & Contract Support
- Review purchase orders and subcontract agreements for alignment with the budget.
- Track committed costs and subcontractor payments.
- Ensure compliance with financial and contractual requirements.
6. Financial Coordination
- Work closely with Accounting to ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Support month‑end closing activities.
- Assist with financial audits and reviews when needed.
Who You Are
You’re someone who loves structure, numbers, and accuracy — and you thrive in a team environment where collaboration fuels success.
- You have a bachelor’s degree in construction management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
- You bring 5–7 years of cost control experience in construction projects.
- You’ve worked on large‑scale industrial or infrastructure projects (bonus points!).
- You know your way around cost control software like Procore, Primavera, Acumatica, Forecast Plus, or similar.
- You’re an Excel whiz and understand contract structures (FIDIC knowledge is a bonus).
- You’re analytical, organized, detail‑oriented, and great at communication.
- You stay cool under pressure and always meet your deadlines.
