Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Senior Manager, Integrated Business Planning role will report to the Vice President, Petrochemical Commercial. The successful candidate will lead a team of professionals and be responsible for the establishment, oversight, and coordination of the Integrated Business Planning (“IBP”) function for the Heartland business unit comprising the operations for the CUB, PDH and PP facilities, the associated supply requirements to support an optimal sales/demand plan. The implementation of the Integrated Business Planning Function will evolve and leverage the existing Heartland processes. This role involves strategic planning, cross-functional team leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure efficient and profitable operations.
The Senior Manager, Integrated Business Planning, together with their team is responsible for the following:

Lead the development of an Integrated Business Planning framework, ensuring structured processes and regular review meetings.

Develop and implement comprehensive business integration strategies aligning with the company's long-term goals and objectives.

Ensure all business processes from supply planning, production, logistics and sales are aligned and integrated effectively.

Lead development, deployment, and continuous improvement of standardized IBP methodologies, including linear program, and drive cultural change across the organization orchestrating a seamless plan for alignment of resources.

Facilitate regular IBP meetings, process step reviews, and relevant meetings, ensuring participation and input from all relevant stakeholders.

Develop and maintain the IBP process timeline, agenda, documentation, and playbooks for scalable and repeatable methodologies.

Developing, tracking, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to IBP process effectiveness, such as forecast accuracy, schedule adherence, inventory turns, and customer service levels.

Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks and conducting scenario planning exercises to ensure business continuity and resilience.

Foster a collaborative and cross-functional environment to drive effective decision-making.

Work closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to develop accurate demand forecasts based on market trends, customer requirements, and historical data.

Analyze and validate demand projections, ensuring alignment with production capacity and inventory targets.

Drive integration of demand planning processes into the overall IBP framework.

Collaborate with Plant Operations to develop optimal production schedules that meet demand requirements while maximizing asset utilization and efficiency.

Identify and resolve production constraints, bottlenecks, and capacity issues.

Determine appropriate inventory levels and ensure they are maintained.

Optimize inventory holdings to ensure customer service levels are met while minimizing working capital requirements.

Work with Finance to provide accurate volume valuations and financial projections based on the IBP process outputs.

Ensure the financial implications of demand, production, and inventory decisions are well understood and considered in the decision-making process.

Align IBP processes with financial planning and budgeting cycles.

Drive systems integration and automation for analytical insights to support data-driven decision making.
-
Leverage advanced analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SQL Server, Python) to develop and maintain performance dashboards and metrics.

Ensure toolset for product wheel optimization and planning & scheduling are in place or recommend improvements including development of business case for change.

Work with stakeholders including the IT organization for development of business requirements for any proposed changes.

Continuously improve data quality and integrity across the IBP process.

Monitor and analyze performance metrics, adjusting as necessary to improve efficiency and output.

Identify potential risks in the business integration processes and develop mitigation strategies.

Communicate IBP process outcomes, decisions, and action plans to senior management and cross-functional teams.

Coordinate with various departments to optimize the production process from propane to polypropylene from a business-wide perspective.

Ensure alignment and buy-in from all stakeholders on the agreed-upon plans and targets.

Lead change management initiatives to drive adoption of IBP methodologies and embed a performance-driven culture.

Act as a liaison between the SLT team and operational staff, ensuring IBP is aligned with Heartland’s Strategic Objectives and Priorities.

Lead training on IBP processes and techniques.

Lead cross-functional teams to drive initiatives for process improvements, cost reduction, and enhanced work product quality (add definition).

Foster a collaborative work environment and ensure effective communication across all departments.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and innovative solutions in production and business processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Commerce or related field. MBA preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Proven track record of implementing and maturing IBP or advanced S&OP processes in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the polymer or chemical industry.

Strong knowledge of supply chain management principles, financial planning, and business performance management.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and generate actionable insights.

Advanced proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, SQL Server, Python).

Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive consensus and alignment across functions and levels.

Experience in change management and driving cultural transformation.

Experience with planning and implementing cross functional programs and resolving issues in a timely and constructive manner.

Knowledge of the polypropylene polymer industry and its unique supply chain challenges is a plus.
